Has anyone heard of how a bear almost started WW3?

During the Cuban missile crisis a majority of B-47 bombers with capability to drop nuclear payloads were "dispersed" to Volk Field to make it harder for the Soviets to threaten USAF assets (utilizing many small, remote bases is like keeping your eggs in several baskets but did have a weakness as we will see).
