What is the big deal about firefox?

Just looking for some advice really, I have been advised to use firefox instead of internet explorer by a number of people recently, I have loaded it up and it does exactly the same as IE except on my laptop it runs a huge amount slower.

Are there any features available on firefox that are not in Internet Explorer that I should be looking at because at the moment I am feeling underwhelmed.

Problems with Display in Firefox
Anyone having problems viewing Muxxu Brutes in Firefox? Since yesterday afternoon the brute images do not display. Everything else looks normal and it is OK for training, but the images do not display on the tournament page either, so I just get a blan
