Use of Proxy/VPN to play MMORPGs

I've never really needed to use one to play MMOs, however it looks like I might need to at some point of time.

I know a few of us *looks at Raiken* here have prior experience in how to set up/play games over proxies/VPN.

I need help on how to set it up.
